Duration

2 Years. Course commences in February each year.

Description
 

This course provides comprehensive training for dental technicians. It provides students with the knowledge and skills required to undertake technical work in the following four areas of non-clinical dental technology: dental construction; cast partial denture fabrication; orthodontics; and crown and bridge.

This qualification equips students with the skills of a dental technician as identified on the Skilled Occupation List.

Prerequisites
 

Good passes at Year 11 level or the overseas equivalent and preferably some relevant work experience.

English language proficiency of IELTS 5.5 (with a minimum of 5.5 in each macroskill), ISLPR 2+, TOEFL 530 (PB), 197 (CB) or 71 (iBT) or equivalent.

 

Tuition
 

$14,000 per year. Students should also allow $1,100 for a dental equipment kit.

Description
This course is for people who want to work in dental laboratories as dental technicians.
You will learn how to design, construct, modify and repair dental prostheses and appliances, and diagnose and solve technical problems which arise with materials and work techniques. You will also learn how to construct dentures, bridges, crowns and other dental appliances.
This course is subject to the registration requirements of the NSW Dental Technician Registration Board and the Dental Technicians Registration Act 1975 (NSW).
In some circumstances students may be required to pay for a criminal records check.
Exit Points
Students exiting this course before completion will be issued with a transcript indicating the units of competency successfully completed.
